Lothar von Falkenhausen Elected as Foreign Associate of Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres

The Pourdavoud Institute is delighted to announce that an eminent member of its faculty advisory committee, Professor Lothar von Falkenhausen, was elected by the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres as a new Foreign Associate, which is the highest honor bestowed upon non-French citizens by the Académie – one of the five constituting academies of the Institut de France – established in 1663 by Jean-Baptiste Colbert to further the study of epigraphy, literature, and the civilizations of antiquity, the Middle Ages, and the Classical Period, as well as those of non-European civilizations.
