Grants & Fellowships
The Pourdavoud Institute offers grants and fellowships to established and emerging scholars, to support their research unhindered by other obligations for a period of three to nine months spent in residence at the Pourdavoud Institute.
Pourdavoud Scholars
Pourdavoud Scholars are established members of academia invited to work on all aspects of ancient Iran at the Pourdavoud Institute, for a period of three to nine months. They will partake in the intellectual life of the Pourdavoud Institute and the UCLA campus, and will expand the scope of scholarship on ancient Iran in dialogue with other scholars in residence and the faculty at UCLA.
Pourdavoud Postdoctoral Fellows
The Pourdavoud Institute administers a number of fellowships for outstanding emerging scholars, whose work pertains to ancient Iran. Postdoctoral Fellows are typically invited to the Institute for the duration of an academic year (nine months) to work on their projects, and participate in the intellectual life of the Pourdavoud Institute and UCLA. They will be required to develop and teach a course during their tenure at the Pourdavoud Institute, in collaboration with other disciplines across the campus specializing in the study of the ancient world.
Pourdavoud Graduate Fellowships
The Pourdavoud Institute will occasionally grant a number of Graduate Fellowships to deserving students admitted to the doctoral Program of Iranian Studies in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures in the fields relevant to Old Iranian Studies.
