Season 4 Episode 42
Divine Kingship Project with Dr. Marco Ferrario
Dr. Marco Ferrario, a post-doctoral fellow at UCL, returns to the podcast to discuss winning a Marie Curie scholarship for his project “GOOSH” (“God’s Shadows: Anthropologies of Kingship in Hellenistic Central Asia”), his research aims to contextualize Hellenistic kingship beyond a solely Greek/Macedonian lens by integrating Persian legacies and Indian ideological templates, bridging historians’ approaches with recent anthropological theories of kingship, and he argues for a broader, socio-anthropological view of “divine kingship” based on perceived godlike capacities rather than simple god-human equivalence.
